A Beautiful Life {School House}

Good Morning! I made this Americana school house using the "Vintage Summer" line by Little Yellow Bicycle. It's 9"x12" on a wood box. The second I saw the Vintage Summer line, I thought of cute little red, white and blue houses, which eventually led me to the school house.
I love to sort through a new collection and find unexpected ways to use the embellishments. For example, I used the Vellum Tape and Canvas Borders to trim the roof outline. And the bonus: this adds even more texture and dimension to my mixed media project.

 I used the Burlap Tags for the school house doors by simply cutting off the top part (the part with the metal fastener and twine).

Once I had the basic school house shape, I added simple hand-cut and paper-punched (scallop) flowers and leaves to complete this folk art piece.

I covered the sides of my wood box with "patches" of patterned paper- now it's a lovely piece of art that can be enjoyed from all sides!
