when I should have been doing laundry....

Ella has a shirt that says this. I've wanted to make a page using this quate for a long time- but I wanted it to be just right. I love how it turned out- I'm glad I waited for the right idea to come along instead of forcing it. Ella loved it, too and was so excited when I told her we'd frame this one and put it in her room.
These are 8X8 canvases that I made yesterday. One for me and one to take to the scrapbook store. I bought the brand-spanking new valentine's line from Crate Paper, Paper Hearts, yesterday and couldn't wait to cut into it!

I did this layout for a past prompt from The Creative Type blog, which was "best advice." Instantly I thought of my Grandma always saying "be sweet" to us as we were growing up. And she always said it in the sweetest, kindest way, which just made you want to be sweet, if only just for her! We lost her 10 years ago, today. Oh, how I miss her, but her memory makes me smile.

So, Ella is bouncing around, kicking me in the head... and I know she won't stop before I do, so I'd better go!

"The Creative Type" Blog

I was introduced to a really fun blog this week, "The Creative Type:" http://www.useyourtype.blogspot.com/ They post challenges/ prompts twice a month. This prompt was for 2012's resolutions/ goals and the use of white space. I had fun digging through at least 3 past Studio Calico kits. It's amazing how often things from different kits end up coordinating.

Studio Calico L/O's

I've had a lot of fun with January's Studio Calico kit. I first made the mini album for Ashley. It's an inspirational journal for 2012 with quotes that I thought were perfect for Ash. It has an envelope so she can write a letter to herself to open in 2013 and a place for her "One Little Word". And of course, room for her to journal, add quotes, pictures, and lists (the number stamp in the kit was just perfect!). I included a roll of red gaffer tape so she could easily add to the book.  It went together rather quickly- it was really fun to make! Last night I made the other three pages with what was left of the kit. I think I actually have enough to make one more layout. The extra embelishments I used on the pages and journal are mostly October Afternoon.
